I have heard all the buzz of late, about how his studio has let Tom Cruise go. For what, I am not entirely sure. Certainly not falling in love, and having babies, or all the stars would be let go, too. Jumping on couches? Well, that may have been a little goofy, but hey, the man was in love, and so why not jump on a couch or two? The sparing with Matt Lauer or the words with Brooke Shields? Na. I don't think so.None of these episodes, individually or together is enough for a man of Tom's status, shall we say, to get him fired. Unless the Studio has now come to the conclusion that the total picture paints Tom as some sort of mentally risky talent that they can no longer afford. Generally, this is the impression I am getting, and I think it is an asinine one. Every great actor or actress has to have a screw loose in order to do the work they do. It is part and parcel of the whole acting thing. No normal person can call up an emotion they aren't actually feeling, without provocation. One must be able to actually put themselves in the characters skin, and wear it in order to take on the persona, and believably show the emotions necessary to convince an audience that they ARE that person. And, the Studio has got to know that already. So. There is definitely a skunk in the woodpile here. Could it be the Tom has finally reached such super-star proportions that the Studio can no longer financially afford him? Are they getting greedy, and want to make even more money on his work, and pay him less?
All I know is they have made Millions of dollars on the man, and now, for some lame excuse, they have tossed him out. That is some pretty shabby treatment for the man who did such an excellent job on Mission impossible, I, 2, and 3...Don't you think?
