EARLY FROST,BAKING FOR BREAKFAST, AND STORING FOR WINTER!
1.Just two weeks ago,at the beginning of September, we were still running the air conditioner. Now, in mid-month, there is no need to run it. The days are cool and comfortable, and the nights are frosty! Hurray!
2.This is the time of year I love the most. Not hot enough to have the air on, and not yet cold enough to run the furnace! And what a delight to have fresh hot homemade baking powder biscuits with strawberry preserves on them ! It serves two purposes, takes the chill off the air,and of course, makes a great breakfast!
3.We are making room and filling the freezer and the fridge with squash and pumpkins, and tomatoes. The kitchen windows are all lined with ripening tomatoes and squashes, and there is still more out in the garden not quite ready to be picked. There will be no shortage of tomato sauce,or fillings for pumpkin pies this winter, that much is clear! What a bountiful harvest!
