I was very excited and intrigued when I got this movie,in part because I enjoyed...or rather appreciated "Left Behind",the book, the radio play, and finally the movie. This program was from the makers of "Left Behind" the movie.Starring Gary Busey, Margot Kidder, and Howie Mandel, with three positive recommendations from Supposedly Christian reviewers. All of this information was on the front of the DVD case, along with the little blurb," One man will need the end of the world...to find all that he has lost." And on the back of the case, it says,"Danger, intrigue, deception...Welcome to the last days."
So, what do you do when you see something like that? On further investigation, I found out it was produced in association with John Haggee,Jack Van Impe, and T.D. Jakes Ministries, all of whom I know and I love. However, it did disturb me that this film was rated PG-13,parents strongly cautioned, due to Violence.Where I expect that the Tribulation period will be violent, I think the writers got just a little carried away with the program.
I was disappointed in this film, because with strong spiritual leaders and preachers and teachers as previously mentioned being advisers of producing of the film, it surprised me that the Anti-Christ,and his cohorts and henchmen would be presented as metaphysically strong, and yet at the same time, as uniformly black wearing, gun toting thugs, chasing people down the streets to shoot whomever does not conform.Although I am sure that these incidents will happen, it won't be an obvious thing, and would in no way possibly be connected to him. The anti-Christ himself will be hailed as the Messiah, by the whole world, if scripture is to be believed, and by the visible signs on the packaging, scripture is supposedly the basis for it's production.Furthermore, although the Anti-Christ is powerful because he gets his power from Satan, he would use deception, guile, and lies to take control, because Satan is the father of lies, and this would be one of his Man-of-the-hour's biggest gifts. Not the strong arm tactics portrayed in this movie. To be fair, this is a fair picture of what a man who was in a coma during the rapture, and directly after the rapture would wake up to find, for the most part.A frightening, angry, dangerous world, where he would be completely out of place and totally alone, with no one around him that would take pity on him and help him. This much is true.Once the Church is taken out of the world, there will be no organizations, public or private, and no individuals left who would be willing to lend a hand to anyone in need.Once the machine of the Anti-Christ takes over, there will be no buying or selling unless one possesses the mark of the beast, and if anyone is offered the mark of the beast, and refuses it, they will be killed. But frankly, I couldn't even finish watching this movie, because what I saw was so far from what scripture teaches, I shut it off, and dismissed it as a total work of fiction. As an adventure/action/devil and voodoo film it was quite alright, however, and if that is what you like, then you will probably enjoy it.Produced since 1999, by Cloud Ten Pictures.
However,I realized since then that I may have been too impatient, and hasty, and so I went back and finished watching. It does get better, and I can say now that it does live up to my expectations. You will enjoy the ending!!
