It's a slow starter, but it's worth the wait! The begining is a bit confusing, but once you get into it, this film is a sheer edge-of-your-seat-flick.Now, we all know that every movie has the background first, and most of it is expected, and then suddenly we are in strange territory, and it takes a while to catch up, but once Bruce Wayne, played by Christian Bale, comes home to Metropolis, then very quickly the rest of the background falls into place, and as Batman gathers his tools and toys, the action speeds up,and before long you are into a full scale nail biter! One of the most delightful aspects of this film is Michael Caine, playing Alfred, and he makes the part his own,no longer just the shadowy man-servant, but an extremely important part of the plot from begining to the very last frame. Morgan Freeman is wonderful as another ally, and Katie Holmes is the girlfriend from little on,and almost the love intrest.Gary Oldman plays detective Jim Gordon(future commisioner Gordon)who shakily gets to drive the Batmobile! Now out on DVD, this 2005 presentation is the best Batman ever, and once you start watching, you'll find you have to stay with it for the whole 140 minutes!
Rated PG 13, for Violence, disturbing images, and some thematic elements.
