You may remember him best as Barney Fife, the bumbling, swaggering, self-important deputy on the Andy Griffith show, or as the Landlord on Three's company, or better in his big screen movies, such as "The Ghost and Mr. Chicken", or my favorite, in his movie" Mr. Limpet." And last of all, but certainly not least, "Chicken Run!" Which ever of this versatile comic actor's works you are fondest of, make sure you snap up a copy of your favorite, and cherish it,because there will be no more. Yesterday,Friday, February 24, Don Knotts passed away in a L.A. California hospital, due to breathing complications. He was 81. Yes, he was up there in years, and one cannot say Don didn't have good long run, however, it is sad to see all the good old clean talking, truly talented actors who had timing and weren't afraid to play the pawn or the dupe, do a prat fall, or be the butt of the joke...anything for a laugh, as long as it was in good taste. Sadder yet, because it seems as though the comics coming up can't fathom making an audience laugh without being off-color. No good jokes, without the filth. There are so few left of his caliber, that with Don goes the end of an Era.
Good-bye Don Knotts, and good night, we who loved your sweetness will miss you, for we'll never see your kind again.
