The original movie of "Harvey" was a hit with Jimmy Stewart as Elwood P. Dowd. Now, there's been a remake of that unforgettable film, with Harry Anderson playing Stewart's part, with Swoosie Kurtz as his sister Vita, and Leslie Nielsen as Dr. Chumly.I have always loved this movie, and was dubious at first that even this very talented cast could carry off this off-beat comedy, in the tradition of the original, but Harry Anderson was the "oh so pleasant" Elwood, and unlike most remakes, they didn't skip a beat, or delete any scene of any real importance from the screen adaptation of Mary Chase's Pulitzer prize winning comedic play. If anything, they added to my enjoyment of the film by presenting it in color, and now making it available on DVD. If you have seen it before with Stewart in the part, you will be charmed by it, and if you have never seen this film, you really must! It is a classic!
