For years now, I have had a bee in my bonnet about the hours Yon son has had to work. Cabs run 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and his company has long since dubbed him their best driver. He prefers nights, because the trips and the tips are better, and I have no argument with that, but when it came to handing out days off, they gave him one.Mid-week. Wednesday. Which is better than no day off at all, and at least it made it possible for him to keep up with bible study, but as far as being able to attend regular Sunday services, it was a huge stumbling block. Working 6 to 6, put him home about 6:30-7:00.Taking into account an hour for breakfast, by 8...8:30 at the very latest, he was falling asleep. Long story short, by the time church started at ten a.m., son was struggling to stay awake, which has happened...but more often than not,he was already sound asleep.Likewise, the evening service is at 6, the time he has to be at work. It has bothered us both that this was so. Consequently, I have prayed and wept and held this problem up before the Lord literally for years.Yon son has compensated for his lack of time in church by carrying his bible with him, listening to christian radio and all the preachers he has heard have given him encouragement and been a blessing not only to him, but to many, many of his riders. He has been instrumental in leading several to the Lord, and often comes in from work, either on a pit stop or upon homecoming, beaming with joy, after having had church in the cab. He sings and they sing with him, worshiping and praising God, and I am sure that the Lord set it up that way, for just that reason. Now, understand me, Yon son is not the sort who will force anything on anyone. But people in need, or in trouble just seem to gravitate to him, and he is always ready to lend an ear, or a shoulder to cry on,and is not bashful or ashamed of the Gospel. When the spirit within him says say this, he says it.But now, things are changing, and tonight, Yon son was called in to dispatch until 11, and came home! Which means, he will be able to have church with me in the morning, AND, unless things change, next week he will have Sunday Off!
What a blessing! What a joy!
