In the October 2005 issue of ELLE magazine, I found a treasure trove of information and pictures of Britney Spears, while she was still very pregnant, and still managing to look very cute. They did a nice spread of her in a pink and white bedroom, and even managed to include a rather lengthy interview. To be honest, this is not the kind of magazine I usually go for, but I like Britney, enjoy her singing, and so I have spent some time oohing and ahhing over the bedroom shots, because frothy, frilly, pink and white bedrooms are my kind of thing. They had swags of tulle netting and flowers atop what looks to be a french provincial white canopy bed, with all the fru-fru and soft pink and white stuffed animals and all that girly stuff I like. But after gazing my fill over the pictures I went on to read the interview and that was basically what I expected, until she got to the part where she talks about she is studying the Kabbalah. She made the statement that she is studying it...reading it and meditating on it. So, the interviewer asked her, is this in English?" No, Britney said, it's all in Hebrew.I don't understand all of it, but it's like, okay that I don't." Well, that rather stopped me right there. If you have ever seen Hebrew script, you know they don't even use our alphabet. They read from right to left. There are no recognizable words, to an English speaking, reading, writing person on those pages, so what is she saying? That by staring at the page, she can learn the language enough to understand some of the words? But then she goes on to say that those who wrote the Kabbalah were SO on a different level, that if you can come in contact with their consciousness, it's like, so profound and enlightening. That it's all about Light! Okay, I am not one to belittle someone else's beliefs, necessarily, however, I do know a couple of things. One is that Britney was raised Baptist. The other is that she has idealized Madonna,so I am guessing here that since Madonna is also into Kabbalah, she had some influence in sparking Britney's interest towards Kabbalah. But I always thought Britney was a bright girl. Regardless of what anyone says, all she would need would be one look at the book to know that she needs more than to try to read an ancient book in a foreign language, seeing that she does not speak that language. It doesn't even remotely resemble English. Wouldn't that be enough to convince her that she is not going to get very far gaining a true understanding of these ancient Hebrew writings? Or, is she so intrigued with the mysterious allure of the idea that she is involved in something obscure and unusual that she is swept away with the notion that she may come in contact, somehow, with these unknown "enlightened ones"? She should remember that not all spirits are friendly!
