I love the song,"Go Rest High Upon The Mountian". It is bitter/sweet,and so beautifully orchestrated by the Gaithers. In fact, I may have been thinking about that song..actually hearing it in my mind last night as I was drifting off. That may explain why I dreamed about green mountains, and being there last night.I was surrounded by wispy clouds, and a soft mist seperated us from seeing past a certain point, when looking down. The Mountians couldn't have been too high, because there was no snow on them...only green below, and blue sky above, and it was warm.As always, it was a strange dream. I had wings, as did all of us, and our leader...died.We sang softly as we wrapped him in black, and took his remains to the topmost point of the mountain, and prepared to toss him to the land below, and then something happened, and we were all falling down through the mists. Slowly, peacefully falling...or floating down about a mile or so, and then we stopped abruptly, but there was no sensation of shock or pain or panic, we just...landed, in deep soft grasses absolutely soaked with dew.I remember walking in such wet grass that my feet became wet and cold, and that is when I woke up. Not when I was falling, as most will, wake up in a panic when dreaming of falling, and not when I landed, as would also be normal.No. I woke up because my feet were cold.Like ice. My dream had been so realistic, and so fresh in my mind that I pulled back the sheet to see if my feet were wet, or if there were any grass stains on my pink sheets. But my sheets were bone dry and clean as when I went to bed.Nor were my feet wet, just cold! But, I had had the sheet pulled up over my feet, and when I rubbed them, they were warm to the touch.Which is not surprising, since I have a heated water-bed...but my feet felt cold.
By the time I stumbled out, untangled myself from the bedding and got into my chair, most of the first part of the dream had evaporated, but all day long I have recalled the ending of it, and thought how strange it was. Yet, for the most part, it was...peaceful. Quite serene and lovely, and yet, I can't help thinking, how odd.
How very,very odd.
Oh, by the way. Since I posted this, I have published the Lyrics to that song in another blog, titled simply, Lyrics to" " " "etc. Look for it, I know it's there!
