Once again, I stumbled out of my dream, into the dinning room, and made for the computer as soon as I could. It was so real, an yet, there is always the concern that should I wait, I will forget salient points that make these dreams seem like I might be living another life.I can see the ground floor, brick apartment in which I lived.Light brick, green painted screen door that led to a simple stoop for the front entry way...nice green lawn, broken only by a neat paved cement sidewalk to the door from the street.Laura, my friend and I took turns looking out that front door, watching for the return of our friend, Gary, who had taken my ten dollars to get cigarettes for all of us, and was overlong in coming back. Finally, I looked out the door, and there was Gary's dark blue car, parked in front of the place, along with a couple of suspiciously plain cars, with blinking red lights on the dash, alive with radio sounds that alerted the whole neighborhood that the police were in the area. When Laura heard me say" uh-oh" she came and looked out and said, " that's not good." We looked at each other with wild surmise, and then Gary came to the door.He was a well built man, with greying hair, but somewhat stout and younger than you might expect, for all the grey at the temples. He came in with a butt of a cigarette in one hand, and three packs of cigarettes in the other and handed them to me." Here you go.." He said," ..I was hoping I could keep the change, 'cause I owe somebody some money, and all I have that's mine is a buck." I shook my head at him."Wish I could,Gary, but not right now.Maybe tomorrow." I threw one pack back at him, and one to Laura, and then we all opened our packs."What's all that about?" I said, indicating the cop cars, still outside, with radio's still announcing their presence.Gary made a rueful face, "Oh," he said," Nothin'. Busted again, is all. Speed'n ." and he laughed. Then I said something about how inconvenient that was....and that is when I woke up.Strange. I don't even know a Laura, or a Gary, and have never lived in a place such as I saw in my dream. The idea of the police being out in front of my house would not be taken lightly, and I would never say or do any of the things I did in my dream. And, correct me if I am wrong, but it's been a long, long time since I bought cigarettes, but, there is no way that I could get three packs of cigarettes for $10, and get change back! So, Where did I go? When did I go? What year was that? It's all very confusing! What a dream!
